I want to apologize for being AWOL for so long. I’m afraid my photo blog over at explore.david-w-shaw.com has gotten the bulk of my attention for the past while. However, I’m hoping to change that over the next few weeks.

If you’ve got some natural history, wildlife, or general science quandary that’s been bugging you. Feel free to leave me a comment, and maybe I’ll write about it! I’m always looking for ideas.

The main reason, however, that I’m adding this much-belated post, is that after years of languishing on hard drives, I’ve finally managed to piece together the video clips of my experience photographing and packrafting across Gates of the Arctic National Park. In 2016, I was the Artist in Residence at Gates, and the experience was… unique.

I realize this isn’t exactly a science and nature type post, but I think it should give you some insight into why I’m so passionate about wild places like this.

Give it a watch, and let me know what you think!
